Platanias

Platanias village is situated on the west side of Crete island, Greece. It has all the infrastructure of a modern tourist resort and is famous for its infinite sandy beach and the available beach sports and activities. It is awarded with the Blue Flag award from the E.U. for several years and there a few lifeguards. Τhe islet of Agioi Theodoroi, shelter of the Cretan mountain goats “Kri-Kri”, appears in the background.

In the village centre, you will find restaurants, cafés, clubs, bars, pool bars, stores, jewellers, supermarkets, drugstores, playgrounds, rentals, banks, post office and entertainment venues for children and adults. A mini-train departing from the central square offers two and a half hour tours in the countryside. Also, there is public transportation every one hour to and from Chania.

Finally, a visit to the picturesque old village of Pano (Upper) Platanias, with the traditional island houses and the breathtaking panoramic view, will charm you.
